thirty years married
they still hold hands when they walk
I missed out on that
one look at them and you can tell
they're still hopelessly in love
I missed out on that
they have children and their children
have children
they're called grandchildren
I missed out on that
though they've had troubles
they've worked their way through them
I missed out on that
they are obviously still happy together . . .
I missed out on that
there was a time I could have had it
with Nanette

Sorry you missed out on all of that, Jerry. Too bad we can't see down the road.

That right there is the tipping point, the fork in the road, the deal breaker, or what forms a bond that lasts a life time.

Aww JP, you're tugging hard at my heart strings here.

Thank you Lori. My own heart strings have been tugged and yanked and taken to task over these missed years I could have had.

Yep, I could feel the heart inflate, then
deflate, magnified in retrospect when you
sum it all up like this.
This really tugs on the heartstrings. Sorry
for your need to write it. Wishing you
brighter days, somehow

My days are much better than the poem portrays. I mean every word of the poem but to survive I have learned to dewll on the pain from the past instead of trying to hide it. It helps to get real every so often. Thank you, Emma.

Heartbreaking, in comparison to what could have beens, that opportunities like that very special person in our life that we know that we know we could have done it all together with sometimes only come knocking for what seems a very short moment, but, on a positive note, you did forward some of us who've had these opportunities to perhaps be a bit more thankful for those relationships we do have. Thank you!
