I am not preoccupied with death, although I write often about it. That is because I am nearer to it than ever before. But contrary to what some might think, I do not obsess on death. It's just that it creeps into my poetical voice from time to time. I am heathery than many my age, and look to many more years of standing tall. I've been in some scrapes, street battles, marital unrest. Oh my, I've lost and found more than most can imagine. These days I sip a cuppa joe, staring at dawn breaking take the leash from its hook call Zoe for our morning walk routine, my days are all about routine – fix breakfast, wash what I need to wash and to the computer I go, hoping to hear from two special people I know only through the Internet – they make my day. Outside the many hued birds are chirping and hopping around looking for edibles the sun highlights their colors I post a poem wondering why I have lost the desire for novel writing. Seems I am just sitting here each day waiting for death to put its icy cold fingers upon my still beating heart – sure we all wait on death, some don't understand that part of life, the time of age when throughout the day dying crosses your mind more so than not. Morbid, but it's coming, can't hold it back. Ah . . . I raise my second cup,and sip the bitterness of strong dark coffee, helping chase away impure and depressing thoughts as I watch the suns rays chase my morning blues away. Sigh. Guess I'll try to write a poem. ©April 22, 2013 / Jerry Pat Bolton ~*~ How does Moses make his tea? Hebrews it. ~*~ [This message has been edited by JerryPat2 (05-02-2013 08:39 PM).] |

Well, I'm sure Zoe appreciates the routine of getting her morning walk... I know Harley (my dog) does enjoy his evening's. Oh, and, yeah, if they're routine or not, can't really say, but I think they're probably more spontaneous, but, um, I, for one, appreciate, as well as I'm sure others do, those poems your sharing here at PIP. Thanks! |

Zoe is a blessing in your life, you are lucky to have her. I am sorry you are this preoccupied with death. You seem too vital and vibrant for this plaque of darkness |

I think it is just normal to think of death the closer you get to it. How can you not. I just try not to dwell on it since there's nothing I can do about it. Ida |
