As the fog rolled across the dark and silent moor she raised the old knocker on the weathered wooden door but no answering footsteps were heard crossing the floor her heart stopped as she realized he didn't live here anymore. No echoes of laughter filling rooms once so gay and a well used red loveseat covered in dust now turned gray all the rooms were so empty for there was nothing left to say all the words had been used up and that's why he went away. Then she walked up to the library where all his writing he kept silently she read his words and between each line she wept as she sat in his old easy chair where he wrote and sometimes slept she dreamed of being at his side this cruel fate she could not accept. So will she live within the shadows of the past that linger here will she wander through each memory that her heart still holds so dear can she escape the loneliness that now fills her soul with fear and can she finally say goodbye to one now so far and yet still so near. |

You're so good at taking your reader to that certain place wherever it might be. I felt like I was right there in that house going through all the motions with you. Enjoyed! ![]() |
