Thinking back to the bad old days . . .

Perched alone atop a rock-hewn jetty,
To muse and contemplate the breakers swell,
You think back to youth and ma's brown betty,
And wonder why it was so far you fell.
You came to this place, one thing on your mind,
To be as one with the turbulent sea,
And just more or less attempt to unwind,
From the back alleys and streets you did flee.

No where to go at the end of the day,
It's peaceful on this jetty, but you know,
Back to the streets to smell losers bouquet,
Trying to stay alive, no place to grow.
Sitting on this rock, looking at the waves,
You can't stay here long, but this is a treat,
You know you'd just like to hide in a cave,
But you're as one with yourself on the street.

You know you'd just like to hide in a cave,

I can relate to the sentiment here, my friend.  It seems as if pains of the past will never let me be...

Though it doesn't define you perhaps as well as the streets do, still, what a great place of reflection you have now to return to in your mind.  Enjoyed!

Oh, it defines me more than you might think, Bob. Thank you for your insight.
