When the dark comes you can see things, Looked at myself in the sinister room; There's an ricochet in the forest damp-- I answer to myself for what I bring, And hide between madness and deep despair, If there is a God I send to Him prayer. If madness comes 'round when all else has failed, Are there odds of inferno's circumstance? The clarity of untainted lost hope, My shadow and I reek; forlorn and stale, Pinned between boulders of self pity's gloom, As the fire of Hades reach down in our doom. A great tempest is whip-lashing my heart! So dark the night I can pilfer some off, There is no daylight, darkness covers all. I try to find my fate from my life's chart-- But I can smell death and its stagnant stink, Need to give my heart some life-saving sync. I find some comfort in my written word, Streaks of light flash and stab around my soul. Death's stench still is overpowering me, I attempt to speak, but my tongue is slurred. My fingers fly o'er keyboard in the dark, There must be someway I can light a spark. Faster and faster bloody fingers write, Little by little I can see the light. ©September 20, 2012 / Jerry Pat Bolton ~*~ I know a guy who's addicted to brake fluid. "These Are the Dark Hours..." True, but, even in the dark, you seem to have some sort of innate talent or something that allows you to find and push the right keys. Enjoyed! BTW, so you know, I noticed your rhyme scheme here was very good. |

You are right, Bob, I try to find the light in the darkest of dark. It wasn't always that way, I seemed to revel in the dark, but that was before I found a way to forgive myself for my past. I am very happy I was able to do that because now, no matter the intensity of the dark I know there is a faint light out there if only I reach for it. Thank you again for your constant support. ~*~ I know a guy who's addicted to brake fluid. He says he can stop any time. ~*~ |
