Married to a Ghost Were I to complain, miserably, As often I choose to do; Would you see the extremes of pain I always put myself through? Were I to render, incomplete, My life in all its glory; What fact... What feature there might lend Any credence to the story? The soul ‘been weighed, I feel the pull Of the chains that drag me down. The golden rule, a smile portrayed Upon the face of a clown Who spends each night alone and tired, And having seen all, sees none. Ambition sired become the plight Of a destiny undone. I dance shadow, I toast the dark, Still, ‘recall what came before… Depraved and stark, deep down I know There is always room for more, But will not share my misery… No! That is what matters most! The world must see the damned despair Of being married to a ghost. For loyalty does not serve me, Although I hold high my head. That all might see this grief truly At least once, before I’m dead. That none may sing a mourning hymn, Nor miss me that I am gone… Nor, by some whim, encompass sting When from this world I am drawn… To take upon myself once more That toll I paid while living… Unto the core of hell to spawn Eyes on souls unforgiving. Unto the end of time to wield, For every demonic host, A truth revealed death shan’t rescind… Still being married to a ghost. Michael Anderson |

Ah, to be married to a ghost is a sad affair to say the least. I kinda put myself in that situation. The woman I gave my love to when I really had none to give, died before I had a chance to try to make up to her for not standing tall in "those" days. I think of her daily. ~*~ I tried to catch some fog. I mist. ~*~ |

I can sense your uneasiness and misery in your words. Just remember it isn't too late to find true love again. Overall this was a beautifully written poem, even with it's dark aspect. -nimd |

My favorite lines are... quote: ...and I like how your poem extends these to the grave and beyond. Very well written! |

Jer, wow, that is so sad. I find myself driven to try to satisfy my ghost every day, even though I know I know the impossibility of such things. We did have a magical time while together, though. I have no regrets for the years spent with her, only that they ended way too soon. Maybe that’s why I’ll never remarry. Nimd, I’m glad you enjoyed this, and that you can appreciate the dark aspect. I personally doubt finding love again will be something I endeavor to do. Guess I’m happily married to a ghost at that. Hi Bob, if the soul retains any conscious thoughts from this life in the next, I am sure I will still be married to my ghost in the next realm. Some souls I believe are linked, I was just so lucky to have found my “soul mate” in this life. Angel4aking, it’s probably better for one not to be able to relate fully to this one. I’m glad you enjoyed the poem anyway. Hi Kat, it’s great to see you here. Gratz on being a grandparent. It’s a wonderful feeling, isn’t it? Sue, Thank you. I’m glad you enjoyed Michael |
