Where Is This Place?

To close your eyes and drift in ecstasy
And journey to the land of perfect dreams,
To linger in your quiet fantasy
And hope that all must be just as it seems.
No darkness there, no sorrow, pain, or fright,
No worries to impose a furrowed brow,
Just happiness compounded with delight
And sun soaked hours of heaven here and know.
The blessed balm of sleep bestows the cure
When life becomes a nightmare of distress,
And holds the weary wanderer secure
In peace and harmony without duress.

The gods be praised for sending such a gift
That brings the end to suffering so swift.

Ah yes, heaven on earth with goodness and happiness all around. Peace of mind and lovely thoughts.

Your last line sums it up perfectly.
We should all be so blessed to swiftly pass.

This reads like a prayer and I enjoyed your poem very much, David~

Had a friend that passed just that way ... reaching out with a smile on his face, like he saw what we couldn't.

Gifts once chills (but good ones), it does.
