Wanted To

Wanted to write you a sonnet today,
So I got out my pencil and paper.
Tried really hard to decide what to say,
But my mind could produce only vapor.
Shut down real fast so my brains would stay cool,
It is hard to be witty and dandy.
Regardless of that I still felt the fool
When I couldn't find words left to bandy.
Tried once again but gave up just as fast,
Since I'm lost at the fine art of rhyming.
To tell you the truth I'm feeling quite gassed,
This is really just terrible timing!

Please don't be sad, there's no cause for sorrow,
Like the man said, there's always tomorrow!

Plenty of humor, but with a background of lingering sorrow within the lines of this sonnet, David. I like your sonnets. This makes two I've read and found them both to be agreeable.

~*~ If they give you ruled paper write sideways . . . ~*~
