Devon Tide Don’t lay me where there is no sun Beneath the sod and worms to come Don’t lay me neath an old oak tree Where acorns fall and leaves fly free Don’t lay me under granite stone With chiselled words where you might moan Don’t lay me in the clay so cold To stand above my story told Please take me to red sandstone coast And lift a glass my life to toast Please scatter me in sunlit cove On Devon sands my treasure trove And with the tide, my soul will leave I am at peace, you should not grieve M c.2011 |

Hope you will eventually get your wish. It's good to be able to pick that "perfect" spot. ~*~ If they give you ruled paper write sideways . . . ~*~ |

This is exquisite, Michael - the quality of every aspect of the poem, the concept, the effect it has on your readers, beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. Owl |

It matters not the tide nor sun when life's been given the Holy One We'll flit, we'll float, our spirit's won the ultimate peace when life is done I couldn't help but capture your rhythm; it was like the beat of one's heart continuing on into the universe and beyond. Thanks for your lovely cadence and gentle, thoughtful words. Your loved ones must surely enjoy your weavings and sentiments. Whether on the shoal or on the shore, |
