LACE So sheer the negligee, within your silhouette And candlelight, your shadow on the wall projects Your perfume,a distant memory now comes back And silver stars to watch, against a sky so black So sure,my hands reached out,to where I thought you were The ticking clock so hushed, the soul it will not stir An empty space, but surely lifelike in my mind And passing time, like cotton bobbins to unwind A passing touch to linger closely on your face And fingers that slowly will set your heart to race Without a thought the lace falls slowly to the ground The eyes and lips that talk, without a single sound Is this a dream,do not allow the light to wake Meander of the path,in furrowed fields so straight In widow's weaves her shadow slowly turning pale Below the plumes of smoke, and thatch within the dale Each night the bluest sea to cool the setting sun Neath crescent moon,to dance round fairy rings for fun Just fireflies,or are they souls from your distant dreams Bring down the curtain of the night, too soon it seems How soft the words of love, that whisper in the breeze Will your heart open each precious word to seize Will shadows leave an imprint, for eternity Please walk upon the sands, forevermore with me. |

Very sensuous piece of work, Michelmas. The wordplay was intriguing. ~*~ If they give you lined paper, write sideways. ~*~ |

An enchanted piece of poetry... very lyrical in its reading. Nice to see another rhyming poet here. Enjoyed this much. Michael |

The thought of cotton bobbins took my memory on a side trip... but I swerved back to enjoy every line! Delightful write! |

Hi suthern cotton bobbins, I reside in an area once thriving with cotton mills, now long gone.Just countryside now and mills converted into apartments. |
