Shooting Stars
(from Boyhood Tales)

I didn't smoke, you know?

Never did.

And neither did she,
except Pot -
especially in the bleachers,
at high school football games.

She sucked it hard,
held it long,
exhaled slowly,
and when she came up for air
her eyes glittered
like the center of the Milky Way,
and she spoke
with a huskiness in her voice,
and when she said  Kiss me . . .
I always did,
and it was always
like shooting stars
going off in my head.

Kissing her
was long and hard,
breath trading in and out
until we were both
intoxicated
and finally had to just breathe.

Wow!

Shooting Stars!

Eyes locked,
swirlies of color between,
hands held tightly,
tentatively we'd smile,
then laugh,
and hug,
and gasp
at the sudden heat,
then grasp
and hold
and kiss again . . .

Tenderly,
questingly,
passionately,
heat turning to fire,
fire consuming our souls - until,

Shooting Stars!

All over again . . .
Breath taken away.

We were not so old then,
not like now,
Our hair was full of color,
our skin wrinkle-free,
our limbs supple,
our joints smooth and painless,
our breath . . .

Our breath,
just like before,
taken away again,
taken away
in the midst of a kiss, by

Shooting Stars!

Shooting Stars!

All over again.

I love your boyhood tales Jimmy. Yes and the gals see diamonds in the sky. Enjoyed your shooting stars.

Oh what a memorable tale you tell.  Those were the days...and then some.  That feeling was something else, and the stars were brilliant, as is this poem of yours.

Great stuff, JW~

I relate in a big way, J. I'm working on a formula that when finished we will be able to enjoy those moments of ecstasy for a few moments. My long range plan is to perfect it whereas we can actually go back and stay and understand what we have done. We'll be able to predict and amaze.

Well, well, your delightful memories called forth my own and oh .... yes shooting stars!

You are a lucky guy, still and always "on a high of love". Wonderful and vivid reminiscing.
