Her heart was in the right Her hand she lends with light She drew a huddled mass Without cruelty or crass “Whose desire is death?” Her tearing song with hallowed breath – Naiveté, a melody with open arms, yet inevitable change has made corruption full Tentacles of hate once veins of gold Now veins of venom her fathers foretold Who forthwith will take her in her life now old? . . . Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. Love your neighbor as yourself. Maranatha! [This message has been edited by JL (01-25-2013 03:44 PM).] |

Dear JL, you leave me wondering about that inevitable change and to what degree it influences those involved. This poem has such a powerful impact and sadly I guess there are more such cases than we suspect. Illness also can completely change a person, I have observed that. Profoundly sad, may divine love bring healing to this situation. Your writing is deeply stirring. Margherita "Love is the One who masters all things; I am mastered totally by Love." (Rumi) |

You were brave to dial-in, read, analyze, and make your conclusion. And with a question no less... I do think you know. So, I'll leave it at that. Thank you!! JL Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. Love your neighbor as yourself. |
