It had been years but I was reckless when that certain devil took ahold of me and it all came rolling back so fast I was there before any chance of merciful intervention could intervene The bar was the same even if the town was not the alcohol haze just another spent night after night in the arms of no one but the smoke stained walls and a tall, cold glass of Southern Comfort First, the crackle as mikes and guitars connected to amps I barely noticed but I recognized the song before the first riff reached my feeling self and I braced instinctively for the punch to my gut The stage was between me and the door She was between me and the door Scorched photos passed dizzy swirling, sparking to dust falling as if from unlivable height I struggled to keep my step in check and turned towards the sound of her steel guitar She as determined as any woman I'd ever seen not to meet my shaky gaze I bit hard the inside of my alcohol numbed lip until I tasted the salt of my own blood I was ready |

OMG Duncan's in the house!!! wooohoo! I remember poetry like this from a long long time ago, you still got it kiddo!! These couple lines speak to me of the feeling of trying so hard to act normal. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Scorched photos passed dizzy swirling, sparking to dust falling as if from unlivable height I struggled to keep my step in check ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Glad to see you're still alive goob!! Merry Christmas and stuff! |

It is so nice to be reading some of pips past poets today. Like Lori said, you still have "it". Hope you stick around for awhile. M |

Yep. I relate, buddy. What an awkward, but fantastic feeling. ~*~ If they give you lined paper, write sideways. ~*~ |
