Inspired by jwesley's Boyhood tales. although this is a Girlhood tale. My Aunt Rose always bought me a Christmas present every year. It was the same present and the same size. It was nylon stockings in size nine and a half. I took an eleven. But as mom told me its the thought that counts so I never told her they were too short. The tops started at the top of my knee caps because I was tall. so if the wind blew my garters use to show because there was no pantyhose back then. I always preferred to wear my moms anyway. She wore black seams. I thought they were cool. When I bought my first bra, Aunt Rose asked me why I was wearing a bra. I was insulted just a little. If she only knew the embarrassment I went thru to buy it. It was in a five and ten across from a hot dog counter. I hoped that nobody was looking at me trying to figure out if I took an A or a Double A or a Triple A. Aunt Rose had pure white hair and wore red lipstick and high heels all the time and a low cut dress that showed her bosom. She died when she was ninety three. Thinking of her brings back all those childhood memories. I miss Aunt Rose. |

Love it, my friend ... I'm like you, seems I remember everything from way back then ... whether they're true or not, my memories tricky sometimes. Of course some of the things I tell my Mom I remember gets a quick ... "Liar!!" She's the one can't remember anymore...ha! And even she's realizing that now (87years). Sad in a way. But she's truly enjoyed the trip! j. |

My mother is 86. She still is hanging in there pretty good though. Thanks for inspiring these childhood memories Jimmy. Glad you enjoyed. ~V~ |
