You sit on the bench on a cold
day. Watching the day go by, the
wind takes a break.
From afar the
children stay away.. for they fear
you
old stubborn goat. A name given
by the children, teens
and adults of all kinds.
Your eyebrows burrow deep
into your forehead,
wrinkles that look like
scars. While your eyes brew
a blizzard
if every caught between them.
You even made a bulldog coward
before your icy stare, as if
you were a death itself.
In your state they
can not see your
loneliness and anguish.
Deep in those eyes there's
a warmth of a hearth wanting
company. Your beloved has
return to the earth, the sky,
body and soul never to
return. Old June is smitten by
a love you once
knew. All your kins are off on
their world or dancing
on swifting clouds. You sit alone
on the bench on a cold day.
Watching the day go by,
the wind embraces you,
kisses you gently and went
on it's merry way. The scent
of Juniper Twilight lingers
in the air. With a whisper
you say
"Marna"

Wow... That's me you described on that bench. Growing old watching a world I could never make myself feel part of. You captured it well.

I am a people watcher anyway. I like sitting on a bench on a boardwalk somewhere watching all the people go by. What would all the young kids do without us spectators watching them. Everyone gets old faster than they think they will. Its nice not having to impress anyone.Enjoyed Ken.
