I agree with Victoria, a quite lovely photo. I often wonder, when viewing something naturally beautiful, if we assume arrogance on their/its part? In the case of the blue jays, I've never had the chance to observe them in their actions, so I'll take your word for it. ![]() Michael |

those big fat bluejays do accentuate the haiku very well ( or perhaps rather the haiku accentuates the image ). i too cast a bluejay in a haiku ( or is it senryu? ) that i penned long ago on a sentimental early morning: morning sparrow lights then bluejay, and cardinal new day, same old love. in alabama, we pronounce it: "card-nal", but isn't card-in-al actually three sylabols? |

"arrogance" is an excellent metaphor that magnificently illustrates the bluejays confident character. it can be reasonably inferred that " bright blue arrogance " is a cleverly devised and ingeniously implemented allusion to regal pomp as a figurative portrait of the birds teritorial and dominant nature. profundity is most impressive when expressed subtly. this is masterful work.
