And Love You All Over Again (from Faces of Love) Years ago, a long time past, I carved my name on a tree. Sometime later I carved yours, and we both went away. I forgot where we had stood in the beam of sun we named our own, and said the words that bound us. I forgot, you, until the day you send a box with part of a tree, precisely carved, that had fallen and died. I dug your picture out of the farthest reaches of a drawer, at the bottom of my dresser, under everything, hidden, forgotten, gone. Many years ago you looked like this, and I, standing next to you, looked like that. We loved, but weren't lovers. We kissed, we hugged, did all the little things people in love do, but we weren't lovers. Until today, when I received a box, with part of a tree that had fallen and died, and a note that made me cry, and love you all over, again. ©wesley james beard, jr. september, 2012 [This message has been edited by jwesley (11-04-2012 12:35 AM).] |

Damn, J, you came close to making an old hard-nosed old man blubber. ~*~ If they give you lined paper, write sideways. ~*~ |

Your writing reminds of how we are one with nature, how two lives are eternally woven within the life cycle of that special tree. I enjoyed this very much. |

I had to write in the pavement since I grew up in the city, not too many trees. Enjoyed reading J. The pavement weighs too much to mail ha. ~V~ A poem is never finished, only abandoned. |
