Autumn (from The Faces of Love) I recall . . . a long time ago - the date doesn't matter, the heart knows, and that's close enough a day, in the fall of the year, when leaves were blowing, the sun warmed but only out of the wind and the chill was welcome after the summers heat, her smile, her eyes, radiated warmth of an inner-kind - a lump in the throat, a withheld breath, the kind of radiance that made your foot stop in mid-step just long enough to stumble, slightly, and then she was passed and looking back, smiling, a knowing twinkle in eyes that said . . . it never, ever, fails. © wesley james beard, jr. october 26, 2012 |

This reminds me of the time I smiled at a guy walking by. I thought he was my cousin and then I thought Oopsss thats not him. The guy kept turning back smiling, smiling back at me ha. He thought I was flirting with him I guess. Enjoyed reading your words again. |

Hmmm...can remember...but what really made my heart jump was a reciprocal wink...a positive personal response to a flirt...Totally enjoyed the poem. |
