Do you remember the nite the big birds died? All the ole bully boys laughed. Not a single one cried! Oh, Mitt "stood" straight, at the podium, with a cool stare and grin, attempting to refute the President and, very obviously, disrespecting Jim. But all that garble... was A-okay, 'cause it showed me the differences as he paved his way. Building his road to the future, was what he was telling me, as he laid it on the line, without any specificity. Yes, he would cut out the heart of NPR and Big Bird, too, 'cause that is what Mitt, the Ripper, knew how to do. Yep, Ole Mitt had a plan; he was going to do it "right" as he offered us an apple and said, with a smile..."take a bite". What is going to happen? Only time is going to tell! Will Mitt cut out the heart of Big Bird and the spirit of an EAGLE, as well? [This message has been edited by r v wooo (10-09-2012 11:58 AM).] |

Vote for Mitt! Big Bird is going to. All the networks will be fighting over who will pick up the program. ~*~ If they give you lined paper, write sideways. ~*~ |

Hmmm, oooh Jerry...don't you just love America and our freedoms...I know I do. And you are right, at least about one thing, the networks will all be bidding on picking up Big Bird...guess our votes will cancel each other out. Any thought about staying home on election day? |

This is not to deride Sesame Street or any PBS program, but I keep seeing, hearing comments about "killing big-bird", but I never hear/see the context/rest of the sentence it was chopped out of, which was (paraphased) ... "if we have to borrow money from China to do it..." Now to me that's "sorta" like me saying, I'm gonna deprive my family of food, IF I have to use my credit card to buy it . . . and all anyone talks about is "I'm gonna deprive my family of food..." I think that puts the Big Bird comment in a totally different light and back it 100% --- Besides which, if I go buy a "Big Bird" toy, gift, product, why don't I get a break on the price ... after all, I'm contributing (through my taxes) to its manufacture and sale. And, I think, since I contribute to "Big Bird" programing, I should also get a break on my cable-tv bill to cover my contribution (which I have no say so in) to the program. I mean, come on, lets spread the wealth! Or, maybe "big Bird" should work like everybody else and pay his own way. Put "real" commercials in their programing instead of "we don't have commercials, but here are those who contribute ... if thats not a commercial/plug then I've been wrong about my name all my life.... Now . . . what did my wife call me this morning....... j. Oh, did enjoy the cuteness of your poem.... |

jwesley and Balladeer there is an interesting chemistry in your thought patterns. Your "right" on track. Thanks for taking the time to read, think and respond. Who is the real Superman? Who can restore the values of Truth, Justice and The American Way? Can there be a compromise between directions toward socialism and capitalism...between democrates and republicans. Hmmm, I wonder, is Superman a reality or is that expecting to much from Mitt or Obama? It will be interesting to hear what is said in the remaining debates and how the voters respond in November. Poetry is a lot like a phishing lure...some will produce "bites"...some don't! |
