trying to breathe fire all i can manage are a few burning ember butterflies crawling forth to take flight with glowing wings smoldering slowly like tissue paper as they leave my mouth leaving small smoke trails like extinguished matches thrown carelessly the butterflies land upon your skin illuminating you in the darkness fluttering caustic wings contently you don't even try to shoo them off instead allowing them to rest upon you knowing they will quickly burn out and fade just like me. |

Dear Paul, it's nice to see you posting. And your "ember winged butterflies" make for a very captivating, passionate poem! Margherita |

Wow. Paul, you haven't lost your poetic touch. I think it is deeper ... love this and I have missed you. Ali |

not what I expected from the title, very deep, powerful & different & one that I enjoyed Love is the life of the soul... |

I love the imagery in your opening stanza, and throughout. It wasn't want I expected from the title, but I like that. |

Thanks everyone! I appreciate the kind words. I only write 1 poem every few months it seems these days, whenever the mood strikes. Who knows, I might pick it back up in a regular way again at some point. I'm glad this one was received well. |
