September’s Run They were a half mile away, but their white tails Flashed in my eye September is here, The run begins I watched until I could see them no longer As nature blended the colors Their muscles stretched and in bounding Touched me in ways I cannot describe My feelings still taut I know what it is to run From fear I know the chances they will take With their lives To live through winter To see next spring To multiply I will run into September, and Carry winter with me Into spring, In order to see just this Again. I can see the birds outmaneuvering the expected end for them, to survive and reproduce in the coming months. Some, of course, will make a meal. ~*~ If they give you ruled paper write sideways. ~*~ |

"I will run into September, and Carry winter with me Into spring, In order to see just this Again." Wonderful write. That closing verse is superb, I think it tells the entire story from your heart. JL Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. Love your neighbor as yourself. |

Oh, Karilea, now you made me cry ... I love the deers and I understand your emotion in watching them. You entered in symbiosis with them and gave us a wonderful poem. Sigh ... Margherita |

survival of the fittest is a way of nature to keep balance and bring fit new generation.Sad that we don't experience snow however we receive migrating feathered friends from all over the world in September. Fine writing, super lines on fear as well. "The secret behind survival of mankind is kindness and love within our hearts" |

ours will just stand there in the road until they feel like moving it truly is amazing and I never seem to get used to it even though I've been around this for almost 4 years now Spike loves to go riding just so he can see the deer, even though he wouldn't know what to do with one if he was able to get close |

This is beautiful, Karilea. I feel the heart-racing fear of the deer as they bound away, and the relief as it subsides when they know they are out of range of what they feared. Owl |

Your last verse is a poem, in and of itself... the whole is magnificent!!! |
