So love arrests development and the bridges it once built are washed away by all the rain falling o’er the earth’s terrain. So we think to re-enact the scene and build again the past but the weariness and wariness like winter halts all growth. So caught in this outrageous state time marches on sans music and musicians of the heart banished into the realms of silence. So we think to call them back again but time spent has stolen skills and instruments have rusted in the void of nought to do. So then, what then? I’ve no idea how growth can come again when arrested all are we by love not meant to be! Helen / 26 August 2012 |

May it be only a momentaneous "arrest" and interruption of growth, dear Helen. You ponder always in a captivating way. But nothing in the world can stop you from loving, even if you are not loved back by that special one. We are beings meant to love ... but so often we spend our energy in mourning over something that we consider as a loss. Love and hugs. Margherita |

It hardly ever words, this rekindling of old flames, Helen. Too much and been said in anger, which flares up again when you are trying to work things out. Better to look elsewhere for your paradise. ~*~ If they give you ruled paper write sideways. ~*~ |

Thank you all so much. Yes, our dear Margherita is very wise and always has a spot-on comment (thanks Margherita). I well understand and live my life according to ... love principles but was just pondering the question of growth after what could be considered a loss in our worldly perception of love. Helen |

I've always looked at it like something in my path over which I stumble, but the path goes on and on, so I just get up ... and go on and on never forgetting whats been left behind.. Good piece, my friend. j. |

but the weariness and wariness like winter halts all growth. I love the entire poem but especially these lines... for when the bafflement and bitterness have faded, we're still... different... and hesitant. *S* |

Sometimes we need to select a direction, go full heartily, bump into a brick wall, turn around and try again. Life's a trip, best taken alone, if we dislike aversion... Always enjoy your poetry, Helen. JL ![]() Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. Love your neighbor as yourself. |
