Severance If I should have occasion to face that red-orange glow, Might be considered evasion to walk away, I know. While Time might mark me "hero" for not taking that stand, Today I'd be that zero, in your eyes forever damned. But why honor tradition, and follow in that line Of souls merely marching to death, if on a slow incline? When, simply by omission, I might bring glory 'the fight... And, down to my last stinted breath, bravely greet that good night. The tears won't last forever, but that don't mean they won't last Till the day I can dissever any future from the past... Where the dreams I hold tomorrow won't be buried by their weight, And the grounds that I may harrow lay, before me, a path straight. There may be no vindication for the falsely accused. If that's any indication, I may stand forever bruised, But there shines a light in my eyes that no man could ever touch... 'Long as it's there I have to try, though to you that won't mean much. But when the darkness of deception finally does encircle me, (And I've known from it's inception what the going price shall be); I'll sing my song triumphant, as you lower me to the ground To finally behold the wonderment of the Christ you never found. But I'll still pray, in heaven, for His peace to reach your soul... That eternal separation not become part of the toll I pay today, for sins amassed and what sorrows I've wrung - That you come to share, in tears past, the praises to be sung. Ah, Michael, another beauty with the subject being that of which I can relate somewhat. You are the absolute master of the darkness of love lost, but forever inside your heart. I love reading these dark poems of yours even though I am saddened very much by your words. Well done,Sir! ~*~ If they give you ruled paper write sideways. ~*~ |

But there shines a light in my eyes that no man could ever touch... 'Long as it's there I have to try, though to you that won't mean much. Maybe not... but for every one who fails to see when an aching soul looks up, there are others whose eyes will behold and seek that same light. This is so beautifully bittersweet, my friend... Bravo!!! |

"I pay today, for sins amassed and what sorrows I've wrung - That you come to share, in tears past, the praises to be sung." Excellent work, such insight you have. Very enjoyable read. I always find it strange that something so beautiful can be so sad and why, when the "soul" speaks, should it be thought of as dark poetry? Most times it's simply the truth. I do enjoy your words and can relate to so much that you write. Helen |

quote: Beautiful, compassionate thought, Michael. I do believe eternal separation will have no chance to occur. Very touching piece of poetry. Margherita |
