Uploaded with ImageShack.us found myself in the woods alone wasn't afraid the woods were my friend until . . . I sensed indignant unfriendliness since I'd been in the woods the woods had learned to hate men who bother and seethe boisterous men there were wrathful sentiment within the trees and the rage of beasts and things that fly directed at men wild things things that slither upon the ground and hop and swim and . . . is weary of men's bother and seethe worried over men's extravagant mind which carries his thoughts further and further in misguided directions ©July 16, 2012 / Jerry Pat Bolton |

Even the forests stuggle for survival, and this one is foreboding, indeed--such grayness, a reflection of humanity's decay. Your words made me shiver, too, and be glad for the lush green beauty of the forests in my vicinity. Still there are stories of sinister silences, things that stay out of sight and disappearances that have fascinated the writers and explorers here for years in certain locals, presences which leave the hair prickling on the back of one's neck. Conservation and care! Foresight and caution. It takes being a friend to have one, even in the woods. Now I am craving sunlight. I forgot to breathe. LOL... super effective, Jerry! Hi Karen! I guess I did become a bit foreboding, but that is the way the poem, as I was writing it, felt to me. Thank you big time for the super comments. You did me proud. Thanks again. ~*~ If they give you ruled paper write sideways. ~*~ |

Foreboding is a definite part of poetry. Without it, this poem would not have worked nearly as effectively. Like listening to a ghost story around a camp fire, you jump at a real sound. That's why we listen to them! ) |

Absolutely, Karen, the readers of Poe have that same foreboding, and that is why his work will never die. That, and he was such a tragic figure. Thank you for being here. ~*~ If they give you ruled paper write sideways. ~*~ |
