.

Suddenly the sky
Was not gray
The street less dark

There were flowers
Though of course
It was not yet Spring
Leaves bloomed on the trees
Robins flew in the air
A cardinal sang

There was
Red and blue
Especially blue
Pale and beautiful
As the dress she wore
Long and flowing
Above her shoes

That sent a call
With every step she took
For the sad old world
To give itself another chance

And be not dead
To high romance

I was there

This I saw
With my own eyes

To take to heart, while remembering you, dear John.

I especially loved that part
about every step she took
sending a call ...

"For this sad old world
To give itself another chance"
