Suddenly the sky Was not gray The street less dark There were flowers Though of course It was not yet Spring Leaves bloomed on the trees Robins flew in the air A cardinal sang There was Red and blue Especially blue Pale and beautiful As the dress she wore Long and flowing Above her shoes That sent a call With every step she took For the sad old world To give itself another chance And be not dead To high romance I was there This I saw With my own eyes . |
