Ah, to live and to "feel" alive... that says it all. The El Dorado of the mind if you will. ![]() Michael |

That "should" be what we are all about, that life thing, but too many of us don't. ~*~ If they give you lined paper, write sideways. ~*~ |

This is so peaceful to me; quiet and serene, like meditation. Beautiful... |

Hi Diana Thank you for the reply..yes, the last 4 lines say what the poem is really about. Ice fishing surely makes you feel alive. It also gives you time to think, with an occasional fish to break your concentration....:-) *********************************************** Michael Thank you for reading, and the reply. Eldorado is in every poem, and the gold is paid to us when we read them. ************************************************ Jerry Thank you...sadly "many of us don't" But the challenges of nature, for me , is the key that opens the door to living. ************************************************* Suthern I did not choose the "intentions", they chose me.........:-) Thanks for reading, and the reply. ************************************************** Nicole What I am doing in the picture is meditating, and it is as you say.."peaceful", "quiet", and "serene". Many times the fish in winter, bite so lightly, you have to empty all thoughts from your mind.. and just stare at the tip of your rod... it is a form close to nervana. **************************************************** Angel_32 Thank you for the reply. The winter world is beautiful, most things are resting, inanimate, and at peace...trees, grass etc. But the snow and ice are very dramatic...I love it as well as the greens of the warm seasons. |

Of course, Ice Fishing, in the Houston, Tx, metroplex, is going to a store and choosing the fish you want 'laying in/on ice' - or if you're a little more fortunate, lifting it out of the ice chest while wiping the sweat off your brow. I do very little, if any, fishing, but I do like to take photographs and I see a similarity in the patience, thoughts and meditation, and passion of which you speak. Now, if I could just add a tiny bit of 'skill' to that, it'd be perfect; unfortunately, though, whatever I learn today, I seem to have to 're-learn' tomorrow! As you, though, I do enjoy the process. Well done, my friend. j. |

I think I get this one. After months of -30 to -50 below 0 weather, we have to ask ourselves WHY do we subject ourselves to such unreal cold. However, there is such beauty in frozen temperatures. And there is such a challenge in continuing on our daily lives in spite of the cold. It's who we are and has become part of us. Dunno. Nothing to earth-shaking from me - just thinking about your poem and that is why I love poetry. A |
