Lines at Twilight The last vestiges of light gleam from the teeth of evening and dance upon half-hidden pages dimming now to the distant strains of Mr. Eliot’s ‘Rhapsody on a Windy Night’ as the last sunbeams, spinning in corners conjure dream-images in the lonely mind, (pausing only to tease the hosts of shadows marshaled for this occasion by the night) you return once more … in fantasy … changed a bit perhaps by the prisms of distance and memory. Yet, for that fleeting moment you seem so very near … and I remember how I loved you. --- bruce e. adams jr. |
