When I Was 25 |

When I was 25, I rode life like it was a mare being broken, I had anything I wanted just with a couple words spoken. I never understood it when they said, "take advantage of your youth for it's the greatest thing you'll ever have" now I see there's no greater truth. Didn't think about sunscreen or planning for the years ahead, I simply lived life day to day and partied the nights away instead. I was loved by countless many and desired by so many more, including the man that I would marry, now 40, that was 15 years before! I guess we all grow old and things eventually come to light, end up where they're supposed to be, mistakes of youth made right. But... what I wouldn't give to be 25 again! |

a wise man once said, "the lessons of youth are best cultivated by the voices of experience" I do believe you have provided credence to those words...nicely written |

Yeah, Twenty-five again...were where you back then...I was looing for ya at a Led Zep concert, New Orleans, City Park Stadium. Was thinking maybe you were that girl that lip-smacked me and left my mind all messed up for a month...maybe longer since I'm still remembering. Or maybe it was the grass that left it messed up . . . all the seats were covered in grass and someplace thicker than others... Couldn't have been the grass...no, not at all. I was lip smacked, inhaled the breath of her (you??) deeper than ever done since and I still remember the taste of her... Love at a Led Zep concert...and it wasn't the band that had my heart. And if it wasn't you... LIE TO ME...so the dream will live on.... I'll send a picture of me at 25 if can find one...maybe it'll ring a bell...I HOPE it doesn't set off any ALARMS....and no I don't have unknown sons or daughters.... Loved your write... j. |

I guess we all grow old and things eventually come to light, end up where they're supposed to be, mistakes of youth made right. Dear Dixie you certainly have the right idea about fixing the mistakes of youth, and we certainly all made them. great post my dear. Lindsay |

Wow, Dixie - has it really been that long? I've known you for more than 10 of those 15 years, and I can truly say that you were pretty great at 30, too. |

Well age has not diminished your poetic ability Dix, in fact like fine wine you get better with age...thank you for another ''vintage'' poem.. Goldenrose. Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength, while loving someone deeply gives you courage. Lao Tzu 6th century BC. |
