Youth 1. Fists pressed against placid glass shatter in an outward ripple a single strand of silk dances freely along the dusk sky rising and falling in harmony with the winds respiration, comes to rest among rotting leaves next to glinting glass 2. A branch breaks overhead and scrapes against the aluminum siding-- we call it a song 3. Eyes half shut glazed with alcohol smiling make a man deeply aware of his breath allow him to for the first time feel the warmth of his blood speak something of soul mates speak nonsense and deceive 4. Lovers lie to one another in the dark worlds pass away in the silence between their breath lips meet in secret and destroy a man. 5. Autumn skies become dark gray snow slips into the air strangers pass silently oblivious and down the street an animal, crushed by a speeding vehicle circumvents the streaming meltwater. I've been gone for so long and quite glad to be back among these boards of blue, that is, if you'll have me. |
