From: Sondra Ball [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Thursday, March 18, 2010 4:54 PM To: [email protected] Subject: The Last Autumn Leaves: call for submissions After an extended illness, Sondra Ball died in the first hours of Tuesday, March 16th. Sondra's online poetry journal was not just a vehicle for self-expression, it was a ministry. Most of the poems were from other people, not written by her. Autumn Leaves was a way for her to encourage individuals to develop their voice, and for all of us to grow in truth and insight. I would not dare presume to take over and continue Autumn Leaves as the next publisher and editor; the ongoing publication has been an exercise in her love for the communities of writers and readers, and that's not something that can be taken over. On the other hand, I cannot let Autumn Leaves sputter out like a spent candle. So, we're going to do one more issue: "The Last Autumn Leaves." If you are interested in contributing to this final issue, please see http://www.sondra.net/al/default.htm#tlal Whether you contribute to the issue or simply enjoy its eventual posting, on behalf of Sondra, thank you for your support and interest over the years. -- husband and web minion, Mario Cavallini Mario, So sorry to hear about Sondra, and my condolences to you and loved ones. Abe Autumn Leaves, Falling in the Spring (We’ll miss you, Sondra Ball) I always liked the notices No matter, the time of year Could always count on Sondra To bring me a little cheer. She’d talk about the weather And the beauty that she saw In all those things around her It’s like she was, in awe. Her words painted pictures You felt that you were there And felt glad you were a part Of that part of her, she’d share. There will be many to miss her Even those, she had never met And, where her aura now shines It’s much more beautiful, I’d bet.
