The Little Things in Life It’s the little things in life that counts Like the clasp of an old mates hand, Encouraging words when pressure mounts, The thought that someone understands. A word of praise when we kick a goal, A cool hand laid on a troubled brow, A stranger’s smile that lights the soul And our day’s sunshine help endow. A small request, without demand Can help ease the strains of life, By one who knows, a guiding hand Can keep us free from strife. A friend to share a heavy load Or to help lift the feel of gloom, Of sad things, help you to erode, As dust and dirt before the broom. Someone stops and lends a hand To help you on to the winning post, The acceptance of a golden band, It’s little things that mean the most. The value of those little things If we treasure them with care, Will to us all much pleasure bring And with others may we share. Lindsay |

Lindsay, This is such a special poem and is among the best that you have shared. The little things are often the most precious things. Oh, I was wondering if you ever see Rick. If so, please tell him I was asking about him and wish him a happy new year. Thank you, my friend, for sharing pieces and parts of you. Alison |

If we always wished for big things to make us smile, they would be much less frequent. The small things are what connect us in the moment. Isn't is amazing how much power to live comes to us in one instant of a joyous thought? Lindsay, I love this poem, too! In this moment, a small thing... |

I agree that the little things that we do for each other can add up to make our lives brighter. |

I love this one...so many truisms...and the depth of this one line is still resonating so deeply with me: "The thought that someone understands" ...excuse me while I ponder that one some more... |

Well writtemn, Lindsay. I thoroughly enjoyed the flow and rhyme. The wisdom didn't hurt, either. |
