She sits beside herself
knitting a shroud of worry
The news sprang out of nowhere
From his lips to Mothers ears
Enlist? When? Why?
Let's talk about this son
You've already decided?
Please at least wait until November
so we can maybe get an idea of..
..there's a war going on son...
..you are a grown man now son, and..
...we support you...we love you..we need you
WE NEED YOU!!!!
Her heart is a lump in her throat
It will remain lodged there keeping
the taste of coppery fear in her mouth
and fresh in her mind
How can this be?
We talk about this war around the dinner table
almost every night
She wants to run in the streets SHOUTING..
NO! You can't have him!! He's Mine!!

He's Mine

*hes mine*

I wrote this 1 1/2 years ago. My son leaves tomorrow. How do Mothers get through this?

Yo dear Tina,

Mothers have been dealing with that since Cain and Able.

I wish your son well.

Love Bobby

My prayers are with you all.  I don't know how you deal with a child leaving for this reason, I really don't.  I know one thing for sure that we are never given more than we can deal with.  Let's hope they stop sending troops over there soon.  Keep us posted, won't you?

painfully poignant Tina. it is not my son but my grandson who is leaving for his third deployment. I long to run in the streets shouting too. his mother, wife and I get through it day by day and often, minute by minute. my heart is with you.

Dear Tina, just to imagine by reading your powerful, poignant words, makes me want to go out shouting too ...

When will humanity ever learn to stop fighting each other and co-operate in creating a world of peace and wellbeing for everyone?

Fear is the worst ally though, please accompany your son trusting his safety and asking the Angels to protect him.

Love,
Margherita

Thanks all. It's been so tough...but I've never been so proud.
