I have stubbed my toe on eternity blood runs freely cleansing the stubbed toe wound keeping infection at bay ah . . . would it be so simple to cleanse a lovers heart which bleeds not no, it folds into itself and dies in the dark dungeon of crimes against passion the heart dies slowly deprived of love it hardens superglue inflexible the poet in me scan the horizon for my muse and I compose “It is the conclusion of forever and my thoughts summersault past the blackness of the universe where all is revealed . . . names are named, secrets unveiled.” I continue to place in history’s archives what I feel as I stare into perpetuity realizing when I stubbed my toe and bled it was my birth into infinity’s darkness a sensation of plunging cold temperatures well beyond anything I have withstood in my life (pausing here) my life, as though I am still who I was before . . . the here and now strange sensations are with me my mind is still my mind my body . . . isn’t what I first perceived it to be this realization promotes another writing session “The cosmos has come full circle back and around giving me the ability to see past the inkblot of obscurity that is my wonderment to open eyes which have never opened before to see the un-seeable I tremble with excitement.” will anyone be aware what I am going through my concern as I look into the darkness without eyes still, even though my eyeless stare distinguishes only tar-black vastness my thoughts my search for something to tell me I have found the God I have come this far there has to be more there has to be . . . oh my, would you look at that a pinpoint of light in this ocean of measureless obscurity I catch my breath as though I can really do that for I have come to the conclusion I am quite dead I have also come to the realization I have not died normally I'm still tied to my earthly form so I must transcribe all this for prosperity "Could that pinpoint of light be the elusive God of Israel the light is getting larger it is getting larger very quickly how can I withstand this feeling which has consumed me the light wraps itself around me like a cocoon gently letting me know a mistake was made I must go back it is not my time." I open my eyes darkness I see I smell turned earth I remember exploring a cave, my hobby caves earth shook cave collapsed on top of me trapped me I am doomed to lay here and die unable to tell the world what I have learned about death what we all want to know is there life after is there a Heaven is there a Hell I know the answers as I await the end of my life in this dark cave my secret needs to be told the mystery of death I hold and no one, no one to tell it to To mimic is a form of praise unless you have no thoughts of your own [This message has been edited by JerryPat (12-30-2010 10:45 PM).] |

Hi Eric. I don't recall actually being taught that in Miss Pierce's Bible Class, but I somehow assumed the dead were kaput, no mas, no mas. Of course if that is the case where do all these ghosts come from? Just kidding there. Appreciate the input. To mimic is a form of praise unless |

Jerry, you have penned a fine telling here. You certainly have me thinking with this one. If our narrator is not to be saved, if it is "not your time," them why was he sent back to die? Thus, one must believe that he is to be saved. However, perhaps this cave is to be our spelunker's own personal limbo. For as the voice said, "a mistake was made." Perhaps Heaven was not his reward after all. Perhaps this is the Hell that awaits the one who's heart has been sealed off from the "passion." He knows all the great secrets, put is prevented from sharing his knowledge. Frustrating to say the least. Such are the ways of secrets. One never knows for sure. These are just some of the places my mind went to after having read through your piece several times. Sorry if I stepped on any toes. Thanks for sharing. You did not step on any toes, Andrew. Far from it, I found your analysis of the poem very enlightening and broader in scope than even I had when I penned it today. In my case, when I am trying to come up with something interesting, unsettling or even profound I find myself focusing one one particular thing, and so it was with this poem. The gist of this was, again secrets, and in this case the unfortunate fellow was taken to the edge of somewhere and assumed he was dead, and while he assumed that he decided to think of looking around for the elusive God of our desires and hopes. Of course he did find "something," that to him was the answer to the mysteries of death, but alas and drat, he was/is unable to spread that message. Your thoughts on purgatory is interesting and I like it, as I like the idea that he has been sent back to earth to be "saved," although in my way of thinking that sounds a bit unusual. I don't recall God giving us a second chance after death to accept His way. Thank you for your indepth comments. To mimic is a form of praise unless you have no thoughts of your own |

Hi Jerry...interesting and thought provoking. Makes me wonder if death brings the peace of not needing to share what is there. Happy new year to you. |

Appreciate the read and comments, Marti, Martie and Owl. I agree, Marti, there is a lot to think about. Mine is merely a lightweight attempt to pursue the unknown. Brilliant scholars have gone indepth and they have not explained it any better than I have. We just don't know what is beyond death. Unless you are a believer, and even so, it is a "belief," not a proven fact that there is life after death Martie, we do not know the answer to your question, but it is probably the most asked question during the history of this planet. Owl, drop by anything for more meandering. To mimic is a form of praise unless you have no thoughts of your own |

I started to read this earlier this morning, and realized I would be late for a hospice visitation... so I promised myself I would come back and read it this afternoon. I started it a second time, and realized half-way through that I am not meant to read it now, before I need to hurry up to get ready for friends arriving... so I will come back, a little later...and wash myself in these waters...probably with a glass of wine, and a lot of pondering sitting by my side. For, from what I've read, this will not only be a ![]() but one for my library. ![]() |

Ah, yes that glass of wine. I will be partaking myself in the vicinity of nine-fifteen tonight, Sunshine. And now that you mention it, often there are spirits(?) or something else worthwhile who are "pondering sitting by my side." To mimic is a form of praise unless |

I am too close to the gate to even try to answer you. I prefer to remain ignorant about it."LOL When it is time to go"...I have written about this already. |

If you have written about it, latearrival, you have approached the subject, and probably much as I have found the answer elusive. However, I would prefer to know what procedure or event might take place in the after death time of our being. Yep. Sure would and I have a feeling I am closer to the gate that are you. Hah! I've moved it. I've moved it, Sunshine. I have been living on borrowed time since I was eighteen. Still here and still kicking, however feebly. Thanks for the advice and I'll see you over there on #47 . . . To mimic is a form of praise unless |
