Dear Joanne

The other day I washed and mended your jacket.
The one Jackie picked out one day while shopping for Christmas gifts, so I bought it.

"you're mending that jacket" said Denise with a puzzled look. "Why?" asked Jackie.

I asked myself,
But a mother doesn't always have the answers.
She just does.

So many times I've said, "take off that jacket,
(or sweater, whatever you had on) and let me sew that seam".

So it seemed the fitting thing to do.
Don't ask me why.
A mother doesn't know the answers,
she just does.

Hi late
I surely hope you can get your love to that other daughter.
I only have the one child and she's a jewell in my space.

I loved the mother image in this and the reasons for the mending. You are certainly a sweet mother and I really know the type.

Bless you and all like you.

Take care

Eric

Eric, you are so kind. I wrote that when Joanne had been buried and the one I hurt for now is Jackie, mentioned in the poem. I just called her and she did not want to come over for supper, but called back and is on her way.She does not live far. She is the one who had that bad accident in 2004 and has never felt good about life since.  blessings to you. latearrival

Thank you all. I appreciate you. She did come over with the new puppy I had given her and her son for Christmas. She rescued her from the Humane Society, (by paying doctor for all her shots, and ID chip and neutering) a part Rotty and part Australian Shepherd. They have lost two Rottweilers in the past 14 years and they need the love and joy only a dog can bring. We agreed to get a mixed breed this time because their pure breeds did not seem to live long. The first was eight years but this last one only four years old. She had rescued her from a Rottweiller rescue group. They had to put her down as they did Thunder before, and that is hard to bear. We had a bit to eat, some laughs and she went back home. Her son is spending time with his dad this week as school is out. An old story I am sure most of you know about in one way or another. I do not care how old they are you ache when they do. Love to all. jo

Oh, Martijo, now this brought tears ... you put all your mother love in that mending. And how true it is that we ache when they ache ... May Jackie find the joy of life again!

Was moved while listening to Noa singing "Life is beautiful that way" ... in the Christmas concert of Assisi. Listen to it, together possibly.

Of course you ache, Jo...that's what mothers do. I'm glad she came over and you had some quality time together. Christmas season should be like that.....as should every other season. Peace..

I do understand this so well.  I'm glad you were able to spend time together and just know the new pet will make life more worthwhile.  My best to you through all the trials and joys of motherhood.

As a mother, I so understand this love, though I haven`t experienced the heavy trials you`ve mentioned here. May you and yours have peace and blessings, now and in the New Year.

The new dog will help. Acquiring mutt is better in the long run I have always held out. Why? The damn puppy mills interbreed so often the offspring is often inferior than the ones before it and on and on it goes. I wish there was a nationwide crackdown on puppy mills.

Hope for the best with your daughter and grandson.

Spiros,Amaryills and Jerry Pat, thank you so much for added coments.
Jerry this is why we always  rescue a dog from a breed rescue service or the humane society. Both have a history on the dog.We have never been stuck with a bad dog so far.
best to  you three, jo

Hi there lady...yanno, one of the most difficult of relationships sometimes are those of mother/daughter...hang in there, you have a gorgeous heart, and sooner or later things will change for the better...we as mothers, just have to let things take they're course...when our children grow up and leave home, our lives change forever, and the life we once knew with them, will never be the same again...we can cling to those memories, and we can also make new ones, by loving them silently from afar...but they are no longer our purpose...

Hugs and sending much love, you are near and dear to my heart, as well as many women in here...we have grown together...

Thank you Lee, I try. But when she is in need there are not many who can or will stand by her. Thank you also for your kind words.jo
