The clock is ticking, yes it is, tick-tick, tick-tick, tick-tick, and there is no place for a "tock" in time's determined rhythm. I could be a "tock", you know, just to upset the beat and be the manner and the means of chaos and confusion. Now to be conciliatory I could be a tut-tut-tut. Tick-tick, tut-tut, and how is that for soothing troubled waters? It sometimes happens, yes it does, when a "but-but" makes its debut in an attempt to balance a misaligned perception. It's worse, you know, than any "tock" because suddenly the cot is cleared of all the toys that lay around to comfort and placate. All in all it's best to be a silent nod-nod-nod. Tick-tick, nod-nod, and there I go on my way unscathed. Tick-tick, tick-tick, no matter what because time is such to simply be the force behind a movement that sends the present into past. It doesn't lie there, no, no, no, but climbs up the hands of time and swings down like a monkey into tomorrow's land. A "tock", tut-tut, but-but, nod, and time undaunted tick-tick-ticks! It's the nod-nod that bedevils moi as the tick-tick changes course and becomes a series of k-tock,k-tock, k-tock's. See what you have unleashed, Helen? http://swamprighter.wordpress.com/ |

Tic is the Vic That toc wants to mock But with a tut-tut-tut The nod says It’s best to keep shut For chaos Cannot exist In the perfect void of Ordered silence And passing time ----- Hope you don't mind, but this is where you took me. I enjoyed your words and thank you for the inspiration. Peace. |

No, I don't mind, Andrew. It's been known for many years that if a story teller wants to become a poet then they must edit/delete - and so from a story teller to a poet, cheers! May you have a great festive season. You said it very well, by the way! Helen |

Oh I know what you mean Helen, when that but-but comes along it really throws a monkey wrench into the entire works. I'd take a tick any day like you say it's always going to be. Of course a nod-nod keeps you safely on the outside too....Oh the choices that can hurt many different ways! Loved it! Eric My favorite oxymoron, "rap music" |

Thanks, Prats and Eric. I don't think I'll make a good non-nod because I'm never on the outside but, hey, always a first time for everything. New Year's resolution - be a nod amidst the ticks - and when I say it no one will understand it! That can be a good thing too. Helen |
