~*~

Windswept clouds
thin the air
like angel hair.
High above the aspen summit
snow flurries
fall from the sky
draping the forest
in sweet cream
and pale moonlight.

Lone pines
and noble firs
stand up to the storm
scented candles burn
reminding me of the essence of you.
Bold strokes
of lightening streak
strobes flash
on a dark stage
of silent nights.
Unsettled drifts
shiver the storm
bursting with tears.

Hard pressed against the pane
of stain glass windows
the sound of sleigh bells
carry in the distance.
A chimney smokes
of cedar wood
figure eights and heart shapes
etched on a frozen lake
are the silver lining
sewn into the warmth of down
peppermint tea
steeps
greeting the dawn
with a half smile
steaming in the morning sun.

WoW! You had it all in this amazingly well-written poem of the season, BluesSerenade. Anyone who can read this gem and not feel the coldness of the snowflakes or behold the moon so aptly described, never mind smell that beautiful aroma chimney smoke from cedar is completely within themselves and not of this world. GREAT stuff.

Hey Blues

You're superb with this one.....I love all the nature images and the cedar smoke smell.

Peaceful reflections and when that man comes back with his essence I know he's in for a treat!!

Lori - This is absolutely wonderful - yes, a winter wonderland for sure but it is, of course, only so because of how you describe it.  Great stuff, Bluesy gal!

Blues, You have a beautiful smile and it is visible in your writing as well.  Silver linings are like that...and one is just aware of the inner glow.     What a lovely write to read this morning as your words cascade down the page so splendidly!
