So, what keeps you together? What keeps you from crawling out of your skin From being mistaken for the walking dead Is it the fear of falling apart Of loosing your heart Fear of the greater unknown Fear itself Or is it the responsibility Of, for, and to The spouse and kids The dog Mortgage Bills Perhaps the job That endless grind Is that what numbs the need to know the answer The endless hide and seek For answers To questions you could care less about Or is it a desire to see tomorrow To possess what you haven’t got today And gain that which you’ll only loose in the end Perhaps it’s the need to suffer one more day Or get beyond the pain of yesterday Is that what makes you face the rising sun Or is it to find the truth Beyond living another lie To love Or hate To redeem Or revenge To recycle Or binge Just what is your crazy glue Your duct tape Bailing wire Bubble gum Play dough Paper clip Just what keeps your soul from splintering Under the pressure of daily living Just what is it that keeps you together? Me? I haven’t a clue For what it’s worth Perhaps it’s you "We'll chase them like rats across the tundra." |

I love this, Andrew... perfectly asked, and well-written, too. What keeps me together? I suppose it is... love. Love, and, an iron responsibility~! :p I sacrifice a lot to the shrine of 'motherhood.' But it seems to be worth it. Amaryllis A pile of scribbles here: http://sharonleighpoetry.blogspot.com |

Glad to hear that Amaryllis... those are pretty good reasons in my book. Peace. Jerry... There's probably more truth in that than most are willing to admit. Thanks for the read and write. "We'll chase them like rats across the tundra." |

To a great extent responsibility plays a vital role. Offcourse bills, mortage, etc..etc.. follow. . Fine writing, Andrew.: "Hardwork pays in the long run" |

I could...ditto 'Dear... but now? It's the fact that early retirement seems eminent so the fact that I can enjoy live, the antics of my Shi Tzus, my grandchildren, my home, my friends, and my writing [not always nor necessarily in the order written] and the potential of traveling is what keeps me together. But then, I always have worn rose-colored glasses... Great stuff, Sir. More, please? |

Sinfully: Might I suggest Gorilla Grip. That stuff’s pretty strong. I like those lines too. Thanks for looking in. Peace. Easy 1: Roger that! But you’re talking to a guy who used to sell air for a living. Lori: Thanks for the read and write. Prasad: Being responsible will do that to you. Thanks for the supergrin. Sir Dark: Luke warm nitro! I can only imagine what you’d be like without those shots and shooters. But now that you mention it…. Bartender, a round on me! Thanks for looking in and leaving your mark. Sir Balladeer: You? Not know everything! I thought you where the National Repository of Knowledge. I’m sure if Toe where running around, he’d have something to say to that. It is always a pleasure to see your mark. Thanks for the read and write. Lady Sunshine: Just keep wearing those glasses, because the view looks mighty fine from where I stand. Thanks for the read and write. I bow to you and yours. Hmmm...sounds like you're asking...I like that because it made me look at the poem in a completely different way. What keeps me together is the wonder, my curiosity, each new day and love, of course. |

Martie: All good things in my book. In a way, I was asking... so, I'm glad you read it that way. Thanks for the read and write. Peace. "We'll chase them like rats across the tundra." |

A ball of wax, string and fear of debt? Well, and the fact that there's only today - who knows if I'll be here tomorrow. I enjoy the moment. Thanks for the think. A |
