you could thrill them with style
you could brush up their pride
you'd catch their attention with sweet cautious lies
you could conceal your desires from deeds
glib was your answer for the love Jones they'd seek

you could play out their wishes
let them hold you and squeeze you
you could bend all the rules where none could defeat you
you'd preach out some words like gospel and creed
cause you brought lust to the whims they concieved.

chorus;
oh I had no reason to set true love aside
I know I believed in my own state of mind
loyal love was there entwined in the space
where I rescued you to save you a place.

you could fill them with promise
you could capture their freedom
then purposely leave them and trash up their feelings
they brought you dead flowers with a hard liquored catch
then you'd blame yourself when they stole your respect.

and you'd blank out your mind
when you knew they'd be cruel
you'd quote from your street sense on triads of fools
you couldn't be selective time was your thief
but it left you alone to deal with your grief.

chorus;
oh I had no reason to set true love aside
I always believed in my own state of mind
loyal love was there entwined in the space
where I rescued you to save you a place.

I love this

quote:
you could fill them with promise
you could capture their freedom
then purposely leave them and trash up their feelings
they brought you dead flowers with a hard liquored catch
then you'd blame yourself when they stole your respect.

I would love to hear this as a song. Enjoyed.

Being selective is very important in life, now the good or bad is individual choice and bear there respective consequences. Fine writing, Eric. Thoughtful one.

Ambiguous life lead / Playing with fire / Bound to be scorched sooner than later / Life games can be cruel / Sometimes the issuer of that cruelty is bitten themselves / Still . . . / They can be rescued if the but recognize their rescuer . . .

Hi Prasad
Yes, being selective is important but it sometimes gets confused with emotional circumstances. Thanks for the fine comments, I appreciate the read and the visit.
