Christmas, the holiday season
With gift giving and paying beyond all reason
For What? Family and friends, for spirtualization
But really there's just too much commercialization

"Bah Humbug!" I say, let's move on
Please just let December be gone
The shopping is nothing but a fright
To get it all done is one big fight

The tree and lights are something to see
Then the electric bill arrives with an exaggerated fee
The winter wonderland, I gaze with awe
But the oil bill just sticks in my craw

My mom passed seven years this Christmas
So the season leaves me with sadness
But I go on, thank goodness for grandkids!
Oh...I must go check Ebay for toy bids!

Please don't misunderstand me my friend
But I'll be glad when the holidays end
I'm not the only one I bet!
Is it January yet?

I loved your poem, very inspired. BTW, I love Christmas however, so even poems involving the hating of Christmas appeal to me! =P

Seriously however I can understand the sentiment. This December I will be without both my parents. The only problem with skipping December is that I would miss my Birthday.Great job. (Happy Holidays)

Best Regards,

Thanks Nouvs_Os

I have the cure for the bah humbugs.  You need to watch `A Charlie Brown Christmas` again.  You must have seen it when you were a kid.  Linus will remind you of the real meaning of Christmas.

I'm pretty much of a bah-humbug kinda guy too, so I appreciated your rant.

kewl stuff kat...

the hellidays are not always blessed, but watching the neighbor shovel all of that reindeer do-do on christmas morning is worth it...(I deliver it with a dump truck at midnight and his kids still think Santa was there)

I try not to get involved with too much shopping, certainly not right after Thanksgiving. As for the music, only some good blues, jazz, or rockabilly style Christmas tunes work for me. But I still have to watch the Charlie Brown Christmas special. That's just classic stuff.
