not to give credit to that gypsy sahara
when it was your smile width and warm
or your camel toes on occasion waiting
at the starting line of my glancing
for an oasis that you could race onto
when you were thirsty for more than heat

you left your veils draped behind there
over everything rigid that would hold them
and keep the wet of them from gathering dust
before they dried enough for you to burn them
lest you were tempted during a love song
to recover the charming of your sinned sear

we sipped kahve early on those afternoons
and made faces at the flavor so early
before we had time to recover our time zones
there were the tattoos too, with bamboo quills
and the grounds for adultery we recovered slowly
before writing poems on skin ends and beginnings

when I was darker and you were more kahverengi

daark (scriblenote: kahve is turkish coffee, kahverengi is the color of coffee)

I've never been the color of kahverengi
unless a lot of sweet cream was added...
and then maybe...

but I do know my sand...

This was luscious!

Ah to reminisce is such a bittersweet reflection. Keeping alive what made you who you are today always has a sweet/sour taste I have found out.

kahverengi ... I like the sound of this word and the colors of your ballet of sand.

Enthralling.
