My foresight and reality are one,
I cannot divide them in two, you see;
They help me as I look toward the sun,
Foresight, reality and I are three.

My heart tells me no, look back to the past,
I calm my heart with tenderness and care,
And say there is a future unsurpassed,
If we but reach for it, it will be there.

This inner struggle has cost us a lot,
The pursuit of the beyond scares us both,
Still, it's not too late a dream to be sought,
A paltry weed needs the sun for its growth.

We wake up and look for the morning light,
From it we ascend to infinite heights.

Love the hopeful message here, it goes to show we can and will endure.

Fine writing, a sonnet is so out of my league.

Kudos, JP~

Thanks Blue. Sonnets are out of my league also, I'm surely no Shakespeare, but I like to write them anyway.

Very nice read, Jerry... such truths, said in refreshing rhyme and introspection... I respect your use of the sonnet, it`s a beautiful form and you`ve handled it so well, not constrained at all... tip -o-the- hat to ye...

My best to you~

Thank you, Amaryllis, for the tip of the hat. When I first began writing poetry I had no idea what I was about and there are some horrible ones from that time. Don't know why I bother to keep them, except that I wrote them. I love the sonnet.

Struggles and battles, angels and demons within. We all much fight and hopefully win. Fine message here, Jerry.
