The sun slowly peeks around corners of dawn Gathering shadows on field and on lawn Opening petals that bathe in the sun And paint brilliant colors where hummingbirds hum Time slowly peeks around corners of life Gathering shadows of sorrow and strife Letting the spirit immerse in the sun And breathe in the peace where the hummingbirds hum There is a child about to be born Who will skip into sunbeams one bright early morn His sweet little heartstrings will quietly strum The rhythms of life like the hummingbirds hum Whatever is taken is somehow returned Whatever we lost is a candle we burned Whatever we learned is our life’s total sum To be left in a place where the hummingbirds hum Elizabeth Santos |
