"On that starry, starry night You took your life as poets often do But I could have told you Dixie This world was never meant for one as beautiful as you" In my heart tonight I sing. A loss so great I can't explain. God, it's a feeling you too often bring. This deep ocean pain. "Now I think I know What you tried to say to me And how you suffered for your sanity And how you tried to set them free They would not listen They're not listening still Perhaps they never will..." and in this night of dark, I can still see.... this world was never meant for one as beautiful as me. "They did not listen, they did not know how, perhaps they'll listen now" . . . . .(with credit to Don McLean, one hit wonder, or maybe two. And Vincent). Dixie I really like the depth of the words in this piece although I don't understand completely the hurt behind them. If it's about Marge or some other poet missing here, well we all miss them terribly but most would agree that a winner never quits and a quitter never wins. And continue to express themself despite all emotional and physical challenges if humanly possible. Take care, look at yourself in the mirror and realize there's still lots to give and it's not always about you but others you can help along life's road....That's where the real satisfaction comes from. A great song. Your's is a fine mixture of the new and the old, without loosing any of the meaning or sadness of the original. Know that your voice is always heard within these blue halls. Peace to you and yours. "We'll chase them like rats across the tundra." |
