. Your hand trembles As it reaches out For the glass of wine One wants to laugh Sadly at how badly You’ve put the make-up on Of course your hair is dyed The years have worn My face into a stoic cast You search for some semblance Of affection remaining in its Stony gaze Well then why not At last If only for the love I had I smile— your eyes light up We talk as if in fact no time Has passed away You’re happy . . . It’s all I ever wanted Even now too late Two sparrows Perched under An autumn sky . |
