Listening to every heart

I believe I am from
a secret kept to the last;
I am from a dream unspoken
but held to a heart still.
I am from a whisper kept
within a hug given solemnly,
with warmth.

I am from green eyes smiling,
laughter that precedes a joke,
and stories taller than the teller.
I am from a massive, messed-up
heritage, a varietal purple grape nestled
firmly between relatively speaking Germans,
and we meld to give drink
and respite to all.

I am from sea foam and salt breezes
rolling hills and pinion trees,
strawberry fields forever, where
old oaks dress in Spanish moss
and damp sand clings to ankles,
where thoughts drift cool as fog banks.

I am from the tangy yeast bread of
kneading hands, and the hunger
of a carpenter, saved.
I am from a woman gone
to meet her soul’s mate,
and I wait for her to reveal
in silent reverie, the secret of me.

Wonderful, dear Karilea. We are different worlds, each of us, but how I love to see samples of the unique embroidery stitches on the canvas of our lives!

Wonderful write, Karilea! "the secret of me" - yes, I guess we're all waiting for that to be revealed because try as we might we can't quite get there. Too many changes along the way perhaps.
