Louise’s Thursdays I’m a bit at odds today And I baked your bread today As if it were any regular day Just waiting to have lunch with you… Even though we’d meet on Mondays There was nothing like our Thursdays Our sparkling laughter over luscious lunches A glass of wine (or two) to Scrabble by Before the last diagnosis We shared deep discussions On how our writing group was progressing Each other giving kudos to the smile reflected… Admitting…it’s a good group! Today I cut into the bread alone Tasted the crusty chewiness, alone Hearing your last words in silence I will always watch over you Knowing that I am not alone… The knock at the door could have been anyone But it was a delivery of perfectly purple flowers From one of our loving poets, Who, by nudge, perhaps? remembered Purple was your favorite color And that Thursday’s were Sacrosanct, Lunch with Louise day. You’re keeping your promise… You will always find ways To watch over me. © KRJ 9/9/10 In memory of Louise Ryan a/k/a Bridget Shenachie 1-25-48 - 9-3-2010 |

This is so peaceful and sweet. A Thursday good bye or as my friend preferred to say to me "so long" as I said I could not say good bye. latearrival |

A perfect tribute to an equally perfect friend. I sympathize with your, and our, loss. |

I can really relate to this poem. I also have a fried with whom I have lunch every week and discuss poetry. Her disappearance would leave a big empty whole in my life. Beautifully expressed. |

Sunshine, You write a loving and poignant tribute. Perhaps we all want to be remembered in such a way - I know that I do. You are a beautiful friend ~ and Louise lives on in your heart. xoxoxo Alison |
