Lovely Marti, and my prayers have just been answered. I can't believe I am saying this, but I have had enough summer, let's get on with fall. |

Lovely poem and picture. In fact, it is worth another long look after I post this reply. "Love is like a flower owed a lot of rain." - Nazareth, Love Hurts We've been having some summer rains, and this really does help the flowers---such as summer flowers are in Dixie---to bloom prettily. |

Sharon, my rain dance finally worked and we got 4 days of good solid rain. Gardens look good, well as good as they can look this time of year. Thought the hot, steamy weather was gone but supposed to be in the 90's this weekend. I hate the heat and it just kills my MS. ooxx Marti

Marti, We only got a little over an inch of that rain, but oh what a bow it makes. And unbowing of certain organic delights. Thankfully we have cooled down a bit here, enough where I can walk my dogs again and enjoy a respite in the sun and air without being baked in a convection oven. I know in only a short time I will be walking in the ice and snow...but the boys enjoy that time even more, being Shih Tzus! And as we are on weather, it was interesting to know that 100 years ago [in our weekly archival memories from the paper...it was a whole 10 degrees higher than what we've been experiencing.] The quip "nothing new under the sun" comes to mind. |

Marti, I saw your signature, and had to tell you that I know a lady here that does just that! She is priceless, you never know what she will be walking with. The other day it was actually an upside down flamingo, like in Alice in Wonderland. She was all in pink and salmon, and it matched just beautifully. My favorite is her bejeweled one though, love ma bling! |

Dear Marti, I am sorry for the wilting flowers, especially as they are "Margriten" ... daisies, my namesakes. I think I need some water too ... in this persisting heat! Good to know it did finally rain where you live. Interesting, Karilea, what you refer. Indeed nothing new! Loved this much. Love, Margherita (Margrit) |

Thank you all so much for your beautiful and thoughtful comments. It's back up in the high 90ยบ's and everything is wilting again. Makes me so sad to see the end of summer come as I've put so much work and love into my gardens. But the good news is that they will be back next year. love to all, Marti
