Small, The By-products

Photographs . . .
of one type or another -
scanning, one by one, digitally preserving,
History, Time, Lives in passage,
all representative of the photographer
who recorded for posterity -
and yet,
it's the photographer who's gone.
Small, the by-products of his life,
large his legacy, his place in memory;
but, oh, I'd burn it all
to look my father in the eyes again.

Deeply poignant, dear Jimmy. Good that it's not a deal, because if you were granted the wish, how long would the visit last? And then you would again be yearning ... without pictures. Come to think of it.
