Undercurrents of love

Melancholy seeps
through the brilliance
of this white spotted
serene summer sky.
Something is amiss,
though the seagulls cry
their usual song
of boundless freedom.

I wish I could fly
far away into the depth
of distant skies,
with the promise
of a close encounter
between our souls,
to sip at the cup
of our affinity
that has grown deeper
along the common path
of our shared lives.

Sparks of consciousness
dance upon the surface
of the waters of time.
I plunge my feet
into this beckoning sea
of tranquility.

Driven by the power
of warm undercurrents of love
I step out of my sadness
reaching for your hands.
You guide me safely
through the mist of tears
into the dimension of peace.

Tonight we shall hover
above the highest treetops,
beyond the layers of haze
that spill drops of gloom,
to reach for the skies
and dance among the stars
using the magic power
of our inexhaustible
undercurrents of love.

To sip at the cup of affinity indeed. Thank you for sharing this poem. Rich in complexity, and content.

Beautiful...as always.
Yet it is also obvious how much you have grown as an artist (an expression of your inner life)Margherita...for just when I think you have reached a pinical of poetic expression -
you top it.
Again.

Eric

Dear Eric, what a sweet surprise to find you here and with such a loving comment! Nine years ago you may have read my first poem shared on the Chopra board. Thank you for inspiring me to continue to write in English ... I owe my improvement to you, for it was you who always encouraged me.

You know I would love you to post your poetry on Pip again if you can

Love you,
Margherita

Love your title, there are so many emotions that lie below the surface.
Your poem encompasses so much, so beautifully.

Margherita, MARGHERITA, M-A-R-G-H-E-R-I-T-A!!!  Except for the word "hands", this could have been from me to Flicka and Daisy!!!  As you know, they send me cloud and sky messages every day and before I even read the poem, I was so enthralled by the picture, as Flicka and Daisy know that cumulus clouds are my favourite ones - except in our parlance, they are "happy little fluffy ones" or "happy big fluffy ones."

This doesn't take away from your meaning, but I know you will forgive me if I only read it the way you meant it on the second reading.  The poem is so beautiful in its own right, but I just KNOW you will understand how extra-specially beautiful it is to me.

Such a beautiful write, dear Margherita.

"I wish I could fly
far away into the depth
of distant skies,
with the promise
of a close encounter
between our souls,
to sip at the cup
of our affinity
that has grown deeper
along the common path
of our shared lives."

We probably do that when asleep but why, oh why, don't we remember?  Somewhere or other I guess you do remember otherwise you couldn't have written this.  Thank you for inviting us into your undercurrents of love.

Hugs
Helen

Dolphina, I was somewhat misty-eyed as I read along...
The level of your soul expression through poetry, is a level to which I aspire.

Love you, dear POETESS!!!
