With these times being what they are, Many still fighting from afar All soldiers can relate, Try to escape from the hate Pray to God to set them free, Home is where they want to be To loved ones arms they crave, But for now they must be brave The war rages on for many a day, And home is so, so far away Bags so needed fall from plane, With letters from home to keep them sane So the soldier says "Please write to me!" And for a short while, he's Home, he's Free! [This message has been edited by katahdin (08-15-2010 01:57 AM).] |

Nocturnal pulse - Thanks for the inspiration! Passing Shadows and Amaryllis - thanks for reading my poems. Letters from home give them hope. And you are right freedom is not free. Kat >^..^< |

It can be easy to take for granted what those connection mean..to those who serve so far from home and in harms way... very nicely done ... |

A soldier`s life is a lonely one and a letter does bring them comfort. You did something nice with this poem and you should be proud of yourself. |

Yes, drop letters not bombs. We can't do enough for our heroes afar. Wonderfully put! Richard |
